HPE Networking Instant On Cloud Portal 3.4.0 builds on recent releases with practical updates that make it easier to protect the network, manage traffic, and resolve issues faster.
Cloud Portal 3.4.0 introduces enhancements across application category controls, Application Layer Gateway settings, policy management, outage notifications, bulk power cycle, IP address reservation workflows, and firmware upgrade retry support.
More intuitive application control
Application visibility and control now use more meaningful categories, helping administrators better understand and manage the types of applications using the network. Categories such as social networking, streaming, gaming, news and media, lifestyle, and creative media make allow or block decisions easier to apply and explain.
The new approach ensures minimal traffic remains uncategorized to allow a better view of your network traffic flow. A new category “Networking Protocols” captures core networking and transport protocols required for communication. Users can also block AI generative tools like Claude, ChatGPT and creative media platforms like Notion with the “Creative Content” category.
More flexible traffic control
Cloud Portal 3.4.0 gives administrators more control over how traffic is handled. Application Layer Gateway protocols can be enabled or disabled when troubleshooting specific behavior, such as dropped VoIP calls or IP camera feed issues.
New service outage notifications help administrators stay informed during platform-wide cloud service events. Users can choose to receive email or push notifications when an outage occurs and when it clears, reducing the need to repeatedly check the service health page.
Sites without a secure gateway can also allow, block, or restrict traffic between selected source and destination IP addresses or subnets, giving switch-only or access point-only deployments more targeted policy control.
Simpler device management and upgrade recovery
Bulk power cycle support helps administrators reboot multiple PoE clients at once, while improved IP address reservation workflows make it easier to add reservations from client and device list views or details pages. If a firmware download issue causes an upgrade to fail, Cloud Portal 3.4.0 adds a manual retry option from the software upgrade page.
Upgrade availability
Cloud-based enhancements will be available as the portal update rolls out. Firmware-dependent features, including ALG controls, upgrade retry support, and bulk power cycle, become available after site devices update during their configured maintenance window.
