    Posted 11-10-2022 12:37 PM

Great news, friends! We have started rolling out the new Instant On 2.7.0 features this month. We heard the feedback and suggestions you have provided our teams, and we're excited to deliver these updates to you.

The software delivery process will take about two weeks to reach all users. Each user will receive a software update notification when the new firmware is ready for your site.

We are excited to share some key updates in the Instant On 2.7.0 release. To our customers and partners managing growing SMB networks with Instant On, you can now add up to 50 Aruba Instant On devices (i.e. combination of access points or switches) per site. The change is also to help address some of the challenging SMB environments, like concrete or steel structures and multi-floor buildings, which require more access points for wireless coverage.

Additionally, we've enabled Client Match on access points to optimize roaming performance. You'd also want to check out the new client watchlist feature, where you can closely track the status of critical infrastructure devices, such as servers or storage. And there is more.

You may find the Aruba Instant On 2.7.0 Release Notes and Aruba Instant On 2.7.0 User Guide for detailed feature updates and user experience improvements on the release. In addition, we will be sharing a blog soon, walking you through some of the key updates.

Aruba Instant On network management is available on Android, iOS, and Instant On cloud-based web portals.

Please provide more detailed information in the release notes...

"Bug fixes and usability enhancements." doesn't really tell us anything.

50 devices is already a big step forward.
I still need to see it in action but the user guide shows Jumbo Frames support in cloud managed as well, good.

Next one would be IGMP control in cloud based management... Still have lots of deals begin missed on this...

    Keep up the good work

Thank you so much for the great feedback. I did speak with my team and we need more information on IGMP control use cases and the business impact.

    Hi,
I referred to this already in another thread...

In this specific situation we are using HDMI over ethernet transmitters and receivers to send publicity tp multiple TV screens in a soccer stadium where we are using InstantOn. A complete wireless network is InstantOn is already active as well.

Now when connecting the HDMI receivers we get blurred images on the TV's, where I assume the storm control is blocking packets.
By changing the switches to local management so that I can disable multicast storm control all images become crystal clear...

Of course I cannot change all switches in the stadium to local management just for this reason, where I would loose a lot of the advantages of the AIO features...

I could re-use the 8 year old Procurve siwtches as well (since it works with those as well) but that would be too crazy to deploy a separate physical network just for digital signage...

    Kr,
    Bart

Great update, but one question I have is when Flow Control will be re-enabled when the switch is cloud managed? According to the notes Flow Control was removed in 2.1.1 can this be a togglable option for the next update? Flow control is necessary when you have dislike interface speeds e.g. combinations of 1G and 10G connections. Currently flow control can be enabled only when the switch is removed from the cloud for local control.

We have enabled Jumbo Frame on 2.7 but we have not made any changes to the Flow Control feature. I shared this with my team as well.

The Watchlisted Clients is a neat feature, but it seems to be very sensitive. I set up about 25 devices that are expected to be on 24/7, but woke up to something lie 12 emails. Devices like Ring cameras and such all alerted.

Seems like there should be some sort of threshold that can be set, e.g., no association/ping/whatever method this uses over x minutes. Also -- is this doing pings, just checking WiFi associations?

Another vote for _detailed_ release notes! And also a way to force an update for fast rollout/beta capable sites.

    Hey Robert,

Quick question, is the client going into power save mode or going to sleep for more than a minute? An alert will be triggered based on the AP association table.

JM52, that's a great question. I'm not sure why the device would go to sleep these are hard-wired Ring devices (powered of mains), no power outages, etc. Could just be flukes not sure, but I think a "threshold" of sorts would help.

    Great update!

however, I still would like to see added that it would be possible to create an LACP trunk over stacked switches when stacking was done via cloud. Now this is only possible when stacking is done in local mode.

Are there any Client Match parameters that can be changed, or is it an out-of-the-box config only?

In addition, any way to see the roaming activity like in Instant?
