I am currently setting up SNMP monitoring across our network infrastructure, but monitoring the RAM usage on the HPE 1920s and Aruba 1930 lines has become an impossible challenge. As of today, I haven't been able to poll this data at all.
After running exhaustive SnmpWalk tests and deeply analyzing the standard MIB-2 dumps (RFC 2790), I noticed that the firmware completely omits physical memory indexes, showing only the Flash partitions. I've seen several comments online claiming that the manufacturer does not provide an OID to monitor this resource due to "Smart Managed" OS limitations.
Can anyone from the community or technical support confirm if this absurd limitation is actually true?
If it is true, it is honestly unbelievable and deeply frustrating that enterprise-grade switches leave network administrators completely in the dark. We have zero visibility into memory consumption, making it impossible to perform basic preventive monitoring for memory leaks or resource exhaustion. How does engineering design an access switch without allowing IT to monitor basic hardware health natively via SNMP?
If anyone has found a hidden OID, a proprietary MIB, or a workaround that actually works for these specific models, please share it here.
