  • 1.  SAPD reboots the 303 series AP's

Hello! First time posting here so if the question was asked before please excuse me and point to the right thread.
Have a problem with the 303 series AP's. At some point they started to reboot at some random points in time... We have a Instant cluster of about 40 AP's, all of them are AP303. We're using last available firmware (Version 8.11.0.1 SSR).
The reboots happening only when there is active clients on the AP's. So basically during working hours only. When the wireless network is idle nothing happening. This lead me to the conclusion that maybe the cause of reboots are the Fast Roaming process, but disabling dot11r didn't help.

Show version command after reboot shows this:
Reboot Time and Cause: AP rebooted Thu Dec 22 16:23:56 UTC 2022; Critical process /aruba/bin/sapd [pid 31466] DIED, process marked as RESTART

My questions are - what is the SAPD process and why it's restarting eventually causing the AP to reboot? And maybe someone already encountered similar behavior? Thank you.

    Hi Evgenii.

You need to ask this question in Aruba Instant forum not in Instant ON forum.

For this you need to open a TAC case on asp.arubanetworks.com portal. It is not normal for sapd process to die. As for short tem solution I would advise to downgrade to 8.10 version.

    Hi there,

We have the same problem with all of the IAP305 series.

After upgrading the firmware to version, 8.11.0.1_85785 SSR (Digitally Signed - Production Build)

    Reboot Information
    ------------------
AP rebooted Wed Jan 4 14:21:31 UTC 2023; Critical process /aruba/bin/sapd [pid 26316] DIED, process marked as RESTART

After upgrading everything was fine, but today we have some students in the building, so its the same situation.

The reboots happening only when there is active clients on the AP's
