Instant On - Wired

Hi, everyone. I need help.

I have installed an Aruba Instant On 1930 48G 4SFP/SFP+ Switch (JL685A) as a core switch in my client's network. Additionally, I have 3 other switches (Intelbras brand, that is a brazilian company) in different departments in the company. The connection is through optical fiber because the switches are far away. The Aruba's tranceivers are way expensive and they cost more than the switch itself. So we choose to use third party's tranceivers.

After connecting these tranceivers, the link on the SFP port turned UP and everything worked out. The problem was that the SFP port started getting disconnected. The port simply turned off for sometimes. After disabling FLAP Prevention in global section I realized that the port remained UP but there are many packages being dropped in the local networking when testing using PING command, for example, from a PC to the Aruba Switch ou to the network gateway. 

The optical fiber is Multimode and the third party tranceiver we are using is Single Mode 1GB 10km.

What do you think might be the cause of this instability in the network? Would it be incompatibility between Aruba Switch and Intelbras Switch? 

Would it be the SM tranceiver because the acceptable by the Aruba Switch is the Multimode one?

Would it be the SM tranceiver because my fiber is a multimode one?

Would it be the third party tranceiver which might not be tottally acceptable by Aruba Switch? So it works sometimes but other times not?

We haven't tested yet a third party tranceiver Multimode, only SM.

I am posting some printscreens from the logs so you all can check.

You should not mix single mode and multimode transceivers; if your cabling is multimode then use multimode transceivers both ends...  also as you said, the standard HPE/Aruba Transceivers are relatively expensive , but they are still compatible and supported for use with Aruba Instant On switches;, but even better is that there is an Instant On line of HPE/Aruba transceivers specifically for use on the  Aruba Instant On switches and they are MUCH less expensive..   I attached a image showing all HPE/Aruba transceivers at this time that are compatible with 1930 24 or 48 port Gigabit SFP/SFP+ switching..  Any model transceiver here that does not start with "J" is an instant on transceiver..  My recommendation would be to go with Instant On Multimode transceiver and make sure both ends between the swtiches that you use the same mode; since cable is multimode use multimode transceviers at both ends.. ..   Good luck!.

I think you misunderstood what I said. I am using the same transceivers on both sides. They are Single Mode. The opticals cables are also single mode. However, the optical fiber is multimode. A friend of mine told me I should use multimode transceivers and multimode optical cables instead, because of the optical fiber. I also realized the mijority of transceivers you indicated above are multimode. I have a couple of Mikrotik multimode tranceivers which I am going to test. They model is S-85DLC05D 1.25G DDM SFP 850nm 550M. Do you think it might work?

you can try whatver you like; if it works, then great!.  but if not, if you have Multimode fiber cabling you should use Multimode transcievers otherwise you may have loss; like you are currently experiencing..  Next is it is recommended to use supported transceiver in the switches, so you can try an offbrand like you mentioned, but if that does not work well. then go with instant on transceivers in the swtich..
