I purchased an AP11D and an 1830 switch. I will need to buy some more. 4 to 8 port switches.  Are the unmanaged switches Vlan aware, so that they can pass Vlan traffic to the IoT devices on the network (Tv, DVRs)?

No. You need to tell the switch what vlans are on ports hence you need some kind of management on the switch.

Unmanaged Dummy L2 switches can just pass traffic of native vlan.
