  • 1.  Failover issue on 1960 stack

    Hi together,

we locally configured a stack with 2x Aruba Instant On 1960 12XGT 4SFP+ (stacking ports 15 and 16 on both switches connected with 10G DAC cables).

We fixed id 1 for top switch (conductor) and id 2 for bottom switch (backup).

We see the following issue when conductor switch failed: we loosing around 10 pings between machines only connected to backup switch.

Is this the normal behavior? By design due to the fact that backup switch id 2 will become conductor?

(it seems that switch id 2 reboots to become conductor...)

And worse, if switch id 1 cames back online we loose even more pings on these 2 machines only connected to switch id 2:

Switch id 1 becomes back conductor and switch id 2 is rebooting to become backup...

If this is a normal behavoir by design of stacking mechanism, these technology isnn't really usable!

    Thank you and kr

    Hi Dieter,

This is not expected. By design in case of the actual conductor (switch1) going down, switch 2 should become the conductor. However, without a reboot, we may need to check on the stacking configurations. Can you please share screenshots of the local Web GUI stacking pages and also create a support ticket so that our TAC can help support/ triage the issue faster?
