  • 1.  SFP+ only Switch?

Hello! I wanted to ask if aruba is eventually going to add to its lineup a sfp+ only switch for aggregation. I am still on the fence about buying the 1960 12xg and was hoping aruba might eventually release a sfp+ only version with the same port count. Right now im stuck with two 1960s and i dont use the 1g ports that much anymore since most of my devices are on 10G already.
thanks and have a great day!

    Hi,

I'm not sure about Aruba's future plans, but I've had a reasonable experience with a "TP link tl-sx3016f" ; they have 16 10G SFP+ ports & have been stable in my environment over the last year. One of the biggest advantages was cost ; they cost about $600usd plus cost of SFPs. ( I used TPLink SFP+s but according to  https://www.reddit.com/r/homelab/comments/xwjoiw/tplink_switch_sfp_module_compatibility/ it sounds like generic SFPs should work too).

If you need more ports the "SX3032F" is about $1000usd with 32 10G SFP+ ports.

Aruba / HP sells many higher end switches such as HPE Networking Comware Switch 48SFP+ 6QSFP28 5940 | HPE Store US - they are more suitable for mission critical / enterprise environments, but cost a fair bit more, e.g. ~$40K.

    Good luck,

    Travis
