  • 1.  Unable to add AP wirelessly

    Posted 18 days ago

Hi folks - I am trying to add an AP to my existing wireless network. However, the AP is not being detected so I can add it. The AP in the operational network is AP11D and I am trying to add AP22. I have tried multiple things -- bring them close, connecting them by ethernet etc -- but it does not seem to work. The AP22 has been sitting with me for few years so not sure if the software image has changed and introduced some compatibility requirements? Any help would be appreciated, would love to keep using them Aruba Instant On APs!

I recommend adding the AP22 wired and then verify all firmware is current, then move the AP off the wire and see if it then meshes wirelessly.  On another note, I had this same issue for 1-2 years where even when my AP22 was wirelessly meshed to AP11D it would work for weeks then the mesh would break and I would struggle with getting it to mesh again..  The issue turned out to be that the PoE injector powering my AP11D was enough to power it up and work etc, but it was somehow defective in a way that the only symptom was that the AP22 would not maintain a mesh to the AP11D all the time.  I replaced the PoE injector powering the AP11D and issue was resolved.  One of the more elusive issues I have had and finally resolved.
